East Deer Township

East Deer was named after a Seneca Indian Chief who, under Chief Guyasuta, sided against the British in the French and Indian War, and with the British during the American Revolution, like most Iroquois did. After being defeated on both accounts, Guyasuta worked to make peace with the United States.
